Actinic Keratosis

keratosisActinic Keratosis, or AKs, are precancerous lesions that have the potential to turn into squamous cell carcinoma. AKs are caused by repeated exposure to the sun. They appear as rough spots on the areas of the skin that were affected by the sun.

Treatment for AKs

The extent of treatment depends on the severity of the precancerous lesions. Most lesions may be treated with liquid nitrogen or a topical chemotherapy cream.
